What are discussion tables?
Discussion tables are an interactive way of exchanging knowledge and experiences, combining presentations with open conversations. Each table has a moderator who ensures a smooth discussion and engages participants. The goal is to explore topics relevant to The Pragmatics community together.
Each discussion block lasts 50 minutes. Several different discussions can take place simultaneously at separate tables.
How does it work?
Submitting Topic
Participants can propose topics that interest them via a form. The topics will be grouped and assigned to tables. You can submit your proposal before or during the conference (by scanning a QR code).
Table Creation
The moderators are those who have submitted specific topics. Additionally, some tables will be led by speakers – we will announce them in advance!
Schedule
Discussions will take place daily after the conference talks – you will find them in the event agenda. We plan to host several discussion tables each day.
Discussion
Each table will have a moderator who will maintain order, engage participants in conversation, and set the pace of the discussion.
Submit Your Topic!
If you have an idea for a discussion topic, you can submit it! Submissions are open to all conference attendees.

Example Topics
- How to communicate effectively in remote teams?
- Ethics in artificial intelligence – where should we draw the line?
- How to build an engaged online community?
- Process automation – is it worth it?
These are just examples to inspire you. Topics chosen by speakers will be announced on the website as the conference approaches.
What does it mean to be a table moderator?
Once your topic is selected, we assign a table and announce that the discussion on [Your Topic] will take place there.
When participants gather, your role is to start the conversation by introducing the topic with a few sentences, followed by questions or prompts to encourage discussion.
The conversation will likely flow naturally, but if there's a pause, be ready with additional questions or reflections to keep the discussion going!
We look forward to your submission! See you at the discussion tables at The Pragmatics!
